All about the Inflation Reduction Act

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 provides a number of rebates and incentives for homeowners who install heat pumps in their homes. These rebates and incentives are designed to make heat pumps more affordable for homeowners and to encourage more people to switch to heat pumps from traditional heating and cooling systems. These include:

  • A tax credit of up to $2,000 for the purchase and installation of a heat pump.

  • A rebate of up to $8,000 for the purchase and installation of a heat pump for low- and moderate-income households.

  • A rebate of up to $4,000 for the purchase and installation of a heat pump for households that need to make electrical upgrades to their homes to accommodate a heat pump.

These rebates and incentives are available to homeowners who purchase and install a heat pump in their homes between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2032. To be eligible for the tax credit, you must meet certain income requirements. The rebate amount will vary depending on the heat pump you purchase and the income of your household.
